About the M.B.J Foundation by Jamie Connell: Our life changed forever on Aug 21, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. was just an ordinary day, when my phone rang and it was our babysitter and I will never forget the words that she said “Jordan is not breathing” I lost my own breath at that very moment. “The ambulance is taking her to the Cypress Hospital”. Jordan was 9 weeks old and passed away of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) on that Friday afternoon. We watched in the emergency room as they tried to revive her, but it was not working. We have never prayed so hard in our lives as we did in that room that evening. We lost a piece of ourselves that day. We feel that there has to be something good to come from everything bad. That everyone has a purpose here on Earth and from this tragedy we are doing something positive. We created the MBJ Foundation for SIDS to help Join Organizations, Researchers, and Doctors together for Answers Now regarding Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. It is Jordan’s little way of helping out other babies for her own purpose. And is a way for us to transfer our sadness into a cause that will hopefully grow each year to be bigger, better and will someday help find the cause and end SIDS forever.

The M.B.J. Foundation for SIDS organization developed in August of 2009 by Jaime and Randy Connell after the sudden death of Baby Jordan is dedicated to its mission of Joining Organizations, Researchers, and Doctors together for Answers Now to help prevent unexplained deaths in infants. The M.B.J. Foundation holds as its main goals: (1) raising awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and strengthening the communication model regarding SIDS between medical professionals , parents, families, and caregivers of newborns. (2) the mainstreaming of home-use devices that act as alarm systems for monitoring breathing and movement of newborns. The M.B.J. foundation is a not-for-profit organization that is working to help provide Sleeping Aids (Angel Care Monitors) to parents that have previously lost a child and cannot financially afford them. The foundation is also serving as a support group for those parents and family members in need that may have gone through a similar loss in their lives, and we are in the development stages of providing a “Safe Sleep Kit” for every new mom that has her baby in one of the local hospitals. The “Safe Sleep Kit” will have educational material with tips on good sleeping habits, best defenses in preventing SIDS, resources for additional information regarding SIDS, Infant Onesie, pacifier, and a Childcare Providers Guide for Reducing the Risk of SIDS.
